Lews Restaurant SW Roanoke
About This Spot
Walking into Lews Restaurant on Walnut Avenue, you’re greeted by a space that feels quietly familiar—a neighborhood spot where the pace slows just enough to savor simple pleasures. The warm hum of conversations blends with the soft clink of glasses, creating a comfortable rhythm that invites both regulars and newcomers to settle in without fuss. It’s the kind of place where the worn wooden tables and friendly smiles make you feel like you’ve found a hidden corner of Roanoke’s everyday charm.
The atmosphere strikes a balance between casual ease and genuine warmth, a refuge for anyone looking to unwind over a satisfying meal or a cold beer. Whether stopping by to catch up with friends at the bar or grabbing a hearty bite midday, the vibe is unpretentious and welcoming, letting the food and company take center stage.
The menu here reads like a well-loved comfort journal: generous burgers piled high, pizzas bubbling with familiar toppings, and plates of crispy wings that beckon with a promise of shared moments. There’s a sense of generosity in every serving, hearty enough to satisfy a serious appetite, but never rushed—here, meals are meant to be enjoyed at a gentle pace, encouraging conversation and connection.
What often lingers beyond the taste is the feeling of being looked after—a waitress who remembers your name, a kitchen that doesn’t rush the moment, and dishes crafted with the kind of care that feels almost like coming home. In a city filled with places that pull you in with dazzling lights or trendy buzz, Lews offers a quieter kind of joy: a place to be treated like company rather than a customer, where the food fuels your day and the atmosphere invites you to stay a little longer.

This place may look bad from the outside, but I'm telling you go in and eat. Some of the best food I've had in a while. The waitress was super nice. The serving sizes are big and they have a great kids menu.

My husband is from ohio and he always tries to find places that make pizza like up there. Here is as close as I've seen him be happy. As in he at his food then half my pizza . Honestly very glad the band wasn't there when we went in. I find bands to be to loud. But, the food was amazing!

We were just passing through Roanoke and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. The Mozzarella Cheese Sticks were delicious. I had the soup of the day which was tomato basil, homemade, and it was really good. As a vegetarian, I really appreciate a non meat soup of the day. Our server was friendly. I would eat at Lews again:-)

3.5 so I rounded up. The Sub was really good, best of the food that we ordered in my opinion. I will order that again. The Wings and onion rings were decent. The beer was good. The burger was so-so. The stand out was the great friendly service and how clean everything was. We're going to stop in again to see if we find the one thing on the menu that really wows us and makes us want to turn into regulars. But all in all we had no complaints and we considered it a decent place to grab a hot meal. No long wait and again such great friendly service with a smile. Note: Parking is a bit tight so keep that in mind if you want to hit this spot on a weekend or during typically busy hours.

Great little bar restaurant with really good food and fair prices. I had the daily special: French Dip sandwich with drink included for $9.99. I did sub fries for the chips for $2.49 more and glad that I did. One of the best French Dip sandwiches I've ever had. Service was good - had a new drink brought to me without asking when my first was still half full. Definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Such a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. We had our first burgers in America here and they were as good as we imagined. The (American) fries were phenomenal. Brian also gave us a nice travel tip to the Roanoke Star and we thoroughly enjoyed the view up there. Anyway, it was a wholesome experience and we would definitely recommend this place.
